Intricate shrouds of spinning mist trail fragments of dry ice as they skim across the surface of this dark blue basin.

Reminiscent of comets, the ice shards sublimate large amounts of gas that propel them in unexpected directions. The resulting patterns are mesmerizing and unique to each cycle.

Recently featured on a webcast detailing NASA's "Deep Impact" exploratory comet mission, "Icy Bodies" is both a pensive artwork and a means of exploring cometary behavior through direct observations.

"Icy Bodies" can be purchased directly from Shawn Lani Studios.
